Welcome to the National Gallery Picture Library
About Us
The National Gallery is one of the greatest art galleries in the world. Founded by Parliament in 1824, the Gallery houses the nation’s collection of paintings in the Western European tradition from the late 13th to the early 20th century. With more than 2,600 paintings across over 700 years of art, from early medieval Europe to Italian Renaissance and Post Impressionists, and including works by Artemisia Gentileschi, Leonardo, Monet, Rembrandt, Turner, and Van Gogh.
Photography of the collection at the National Gallery is carried out by a team of highly skilled fine art photographers utilising state-of-the-art camera systems and techniques, motorised easels and lighting in specialist studios. Photographs are precisely calibrated to ensure colour accuracy and exceed international standards for image quality.
National Gallery Global is the wholly owned trading company of the National Gallery and we are licensed by the National Gallery to make these images available for commercial use. Our Picture Library team has an extensive knowledge of the collection and can help you find what you are looking for.
